Moving the ship

When operating inside a large company I find it helpful to imagine it as a giant ship. If you want the ship to move, you need to determine where to push on it.
When managers, teams and individuals are trying to change the direction of a product or the company they will often get burned out because they aren't pushing on the right part of the ship. People need to find the right points of leverage.
If you find yourself pushing for change and not making progress, stop and assess where (and how) you are exerting your energy.
Influence and persuasion requires the right communication, with the right people and the right solutions.
